Job Summary:
The Car Jockey is responsible for the safe and proper movement, handling, parking, and inspection of vehicles within and outside the dealership premises as required. This role supports Sales, Service, and other dealership operations by ensuring vehicles are handled carefully, maintained in presentable condition, and properly positioned for service, display, or customer release. The position requires accuracy, attention to detail, and a strong customer-service orientation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Handling and Movement
- Safely drive and maneuver vehicles within the dealership premises and designated locations.
- Transfer and position vehicles for servicing, detailing, display, customer release, or other operational requirements.
- Ensure vehicles are handled carefully to prevent damage during movement and parking.
- Vehicle Inspection
- Conduct basic vehicle inspections before and after moving units to identify visible damage, missing accessories, or other concerns.
- Verify vehicle cleanliness, condition, and readiness based on applicable dealership procedures.
- Immediately report any defects, damages, or irregularities to the assigned supervisor.
- Customer Service and Support
- Assist customers and dealership personnel during vehicle pickup, transfer, and release activities.
- Maintain professional and courteous interaction with customers and coworkers.
- Support a smooth and organized vehicle turnover experience.
- Documentation and Coordination
- Accomplish vehicle inspection checklists, trip records, and other required documentation accurately.
- Coordinate with Sales, Service and other departments regarding vehicle movement schedules and requirements.
- Ensure proper communication of vehicle status and inspection findings.
- Safety and Operational Compliance
- Follow all dealership policies, traffic regulations, safety procedures, and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicles and work areas.
- Perform other vehicle-related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of any 4-year course
- Preferably with driver’s license
- Must be customer-service oriented, adaptable, and flexible
- Great accuracy and attention to detail
- Adept at conducting vehicle inspections
